90% fail, 5% survive but do not create wealth, and only 5% create multi-generational wealth. This is over a 12-year cycle.

Like all of you, Rob started with nothing and no training. He was fortunate to go into the corporate sector and received the benefit of formal sales training. This was the start of his 8 years in corporate technical sales. He learned to sell complex products and solutions, from logic and spectrum analysers through to atomic clocks.

Rob was not cut out for the slow pace of corporate life and shifted into the SME sector, in the office equipment and cash register sub-sectors.

That was the beginning of Rob's entrepreneurial life, 1982.

No salary meant no sales, no food. A new house and a wife helped the focus.

The first lesson was that every day was a bunch of lessons. Rob came to understand the benefits of a corporate, a kind of employee for every task. Suddenly he had created every task for one employee, himself.

Selling was the one skill in his repertoire. The rest he knew nothing of: accounting, purchasing, stock control, strategy, planning and everything else.

No internet, no InfoSeek, no source of SME knowledge. A correspondence university was the one option. Accounts 1 and Accounts 2.

As more opportunities came through the internet, and the business was one of the first ISPs in the country, Rob expanded his knowledge.
